Sadly typical for both OEM and knock off boards. It literally has whatever garbage was there because no one ever set it. Of course, it is also possible that corruption occurred but I really do see this quite often. Mmmm, yak stew.
it was once working; they must have messed it up when they last repaired it
I'd run the free version of this, as it looks like either bad memory or perhaps some sort of loose connection.https://www.memtest86.com/
thank you
I'm not sure about the IdeaPad series, but for the ThinkPad series they have service CDs that can set the serial number for replacement purposes. They are not public though, so you have to know/find someone who has it. It's not part of settings, so user reset won't do.
yeah, that’s how it’s turning out
Did you have the main board replaced? It looks like they need to use a program called "Lenovo Golden Key U1" to set the serial number. Note that this might not be available to the general public. https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/HT506954 …
it’s a laptop; i don’t *think* the mainboard has been replaced, and i wonder if the goldenkey is available on the dark web
