Yeah but given storage is the only thing they’re testing since fuel cells and power trains are straightforward, it seems like compressed h2 is a dead end when super Panamax ships will need something like 20GWh equiv for a pacific transit. Even at 700 bar, that’s a LOT of h2.
if i were running the company i’d prefer to do a small ship first with short runs over the mediterranean, baltic, arabian sea, south china sea etc, and get the whole set of other things working before tackling the liquid h2
So what would that prove? Pretty sure we know how motors and fuel cells work.
can the organization succeed at system integration and get down the cost curve. also hydrogen is probably better suited over short runs anyway. you get to solve the problems fewer at a time
