Here's a real bummer of a thought: twitter could have added a "gallery of cool stuff i've made" profile feature like this for artists at any point in the last 10+ years, but they only did this now because it feeds a scuzzy fad that they're currently profiting from.https://twitter.com/ItzYaBoiLuca/status/1452387045096058884 …

If it sounds surprising to say that twitter is profiting from c/rypto and N/F/Ts right now, you should do a quick search and look at the sheer volume of "engagement" on these subjects. It doesn't matter to them that it's 99% shilling w/ barely any meaningful human communication.

There are very concrete reasons that anyone who criticizes this shit on twitter has had to then block 100s of obnoxious grifters and dupes that show up in their mentions: because they are fully supported by and feel welcome on this site. Their interests are aligned.

hypenado like a force of nature at this point, doesn’t mean there won’t be something in this domain that’s good for creators

Ethereum has a wildly outsized global warming impact, if there is a creator somewhere that is benefiting from NFT, I do not want to support them now or in future

apparently there are options that use very little energy now, they're just not as popular. This video by a musician seemed reasonable, and is aware of current downsides https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpRt8TrYT0U … I still distrust the art as speculative investment and the artificial scarcity thing

I loved Benn Jordan’s piece on this.
