Yes and yes. Space exploration gives us something to look forward to, in a world that’s otherwise dominated with stories of civilizational collapse. This doesn’t mean we should give up on Earth and run away, but rather look for inspiring earthly stories to serve the same purpose.https://twitter.com/Malcolm_Ocean/status/1452186754165903364 …

If you really care about Earth and our future on it, what is the ideal future you want us all to work towards? It’s not enough to say you want to end capitalism, carbon emissions or plastic. What do you want to bring in their place? How are you going to bring it?

Nearly everything people say about climate is framed in negative terms. Don’t do this, stop doing that, reduce consumption, have fewer kids, shrink your life, minimize your impact. Why should we bother? What’s waiting at the other end of it? What are we making sacrifices for?

When we sort out emissions, pollution, and all that mess, how does our sustainable life look like? How do we produce energy? How do we move stuff around? What about cities? Houses? Schools? Temples? Our relationship with the land and each other? What are you looking forward to?

Ooooh I’d love a city garden!
How does it look like exactly? Trees on buildings? In between them? Floating structures?1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
i’m imagining it’s mostly garden/walkways/park except for the densest areas, with towers scattered between and covered walkways / bikeways for getting to an fro during weather. the towers can go quite far up and underground, there are highline like walkways to loft above traffic
