when i was a kid reading encyclopedias and astrophysics books for educated amateurs (‘cause that’s what i wanted to read…) i arrived in kindergarten where we were literally learning letters from the alphabet one by one it was kafkaesque torture & my teacher called me a smartasshttps://twitter.com/elizashapiro/status/1446435627495530496 …

I remember trying to formulate the volume of a sphere while falling asleep in my onesie (before they made them for adults) and without knowing of pi. Doing integrals in high school calculus made me feel like I had wasted a lot of time. Parents wanted me "normal"

What's your philosophy on how to deal with human emotions and irrationality? If you don't address them, you'll find it difficult to lead/do anything, right?

i’m actually a pretty emotional person, which i sometimes mask with humor, but basically it’s really important to me that my emotions are in line with my projects and my actions, and i take time out of the thick of it to recalibrate if not. you have to meet people where they are
