when i was a kid reading encyclopedias and astrophysics books for educated amateurs (‘cause that’s what i wanted to read…) i arrived in kindergarten where we were literally learning letters from the alphabet one by one it was kafkaesque torture & my teacher called me a smartasshttps://twitter.com/elizashapiro/status/1446435627495530496 …

Cardinal @Saaci8Replying to @DanielleFong @elizashapiroMany of the msot wealthy neighbrhoods with the best education systems, teachers, etc. don't have a G&T. You can basically only access the program at age 4, then you're locked out, and in many cases it's the same amterial, just in a far less diverse classroom.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likesShow this thread -

I might just be being contrary here, but this is stuff off the top of my head. It's probably(?) right, but I could also be completely wrong and you can probably do your own research on what the G&T actually entails and come to a far better conclusion

I think that you just don't quite understand that the G&T program isn't really an open door. To a genuine prodigy it'd be a fancier cage. It's a slightly accelerated class with kids ranging from like 70th to 99.99... percentile at it's best, and due to the subjectivity

of testing kids in at 4 years old it's more oftentimes a way to segregate. There are already separate, toeher, open doors. The G&T program doesn't even entail grade-skipping to my knowledge, it's just a separate classroom in the same building with kids who are
