This tweet and the replies to it would not exist if cities took climate change seriously. If we can’t make people who actually *want* to make pro-climate lifestyle changes feel safe doing so, good luck with everyone else.https://twitter.com/Lyndab08/status/1443592372445605894 …

It’s not the endpoint of taking climate change seriously, it’s the lowest hanging fruit. If we can’t accommodate people already excited to make a lifestyle change, how can we expect to move anyone who needs real convincing?

"the lowest hanging fruit" its neither fruit nor low hanging. its a complete sideshow

Surely it depends on the city, but here in NYC merely consistently enforcing car parking laws as the already exists would go a long way towards making biking safer. If there is lower hanging fruit than that, let me know and it’ll have another supporter!

i can't imagine why you think biking matters at all if you think 'lifestyle' is a useful angle to pursue (i don't) maybe convince city people to stop throwing tons and tons of PET water bottles away every day, idk. https://www.grownyc.org/files/rcp/NYCWasteFacts.pdf …

order of magnitude 10% carbon emissions decrease possible alongside major improvements to health and quality of life with minimal cost / negative cost compared to car infrastructure

another 10-15% possible from shift to cities. pet bottles while important represent less than 1%
