Healthcare wise, Canada is better than the US. But STUDENT LOANS? If I listened to my dad and went to the University of Toledo, the US would give me a grant. A GRANT. As in, I'd not have to pay that money back. No one should have to pay for their education for their entire lives.

But because I was a smartass and decided I'd do what I want, I have $50,000 in Canadian student DEBT that they're making me pay monthly for AS A GRAD STUDENT, JUST SO I DON'T ACCRUE INTEREST. WHEN in my lifetime can I pay this off? So yeah, Canada isn't all it's made out to be.

Canada a hybrid socialist/capitalist. It's great if you don't wanna do higher education. But if you do and happened to hit a road bump rather than taking the "traditional path" from HS to college and getting a scholarship? You my friend, are F*CKED. Unless you're rich, of course.

No one should have to pay for school. Do you know what it means to pay off $50,000? It means there's no point in wanting a better life, because I'll be living as though I was on minimum wage anyway, UNLESS I'm rich. Which I am not.

What infuriates me is this is the 1ST TIME they require me to pay monthly w/their shitty "Repayment Assistance Plan", JUST SO I DON'T ACCRUE INTEREST, and it's STILL A PANDEMIC. AND I make exactly what I used to. So no, friends: Canada is no haven. Maybe Europe, but NOT Canada.

The thing about me even NEEDING TO APPLY for this TRASH plan? I'M A STUDENT. I SHOULD NOT NEED TO. But Canada is so money hungry that they rob you for giving free Healthcare. If I chose not to go to university, Canada is THE PLACE TO BE. But since I chose to, I'm basically dead.

If $30-50k is low, then sure. But I'm poor, I don't come from money. That's a LOT. I will never be able to pay it off.

it was about $5k a year when I went, and it was eased from scholarships and teaching assistanceships and stuff, it netted out to only about ~$2k for me
