i’ll be “officially” fully vaxxed (vs wild type covid) at 3 this afternoon (haha yeah i know things are not so precise) thanks canada, thanks nyc! i’m both feeling super fortunate and relieved but also dreading the delta (and other variants) and what is sure to come thereafter.

it used to be that i could feasibly feel like i could actually shift the discourse by providing new information, but the anti-vax immune system has engaged, and we seem doomed to have variants burn like wildfires through the dry tinder.

the vaccines do work well for now, and the tech is adaptable to even the marginally resistant strains emerging. masks help in risky situations. are we emerging from a societal siege to a situation where our armor is more personal? hopefully.

is it mere luck that SARS-CoV-2 hasn’t become near as deadly as SARS-1 or MERS? maybe not? i don’t know how to have confidence about this. ppl who’ve sacrificed their personal freedoms for collective ones are reasonably anxious to get on with life. i hope it works out.

i find it frustrating and ridiculous that the same political party which aims to inflame tensions with china for (possibly? unintentionally?) sparking a biowar is also allying with the fucking virus against their own voter base, is consistency too much to ask? come on, wake up!

All the best for your vaccination at 3pm today! I've heard that people need to be careful following the second dose, as the body takes time to recover. So do be careful and practice social distancing... All the best and congrats in advance.
