how does this actually work if I wanted to order some lens material shaved down according to some custom specifications, I could just go do that, right? this is about who gets to claim the Official Eyeball People label and promote themselves as such to the public, right?

it's also weird that health insurance doesn't bundle vision and dental like they're not also parts of your body that can affect other parts what's the justification for this grouping, is it just historical inertia? "It would be expensive to change it now so just leave it"?

I'm trying to imagine how it would go down if I was like "hello we have some equipment and materials and some Physics Understanders on staff, if you come to us we will make you some shit according to whatever specifications you have that we can actually comprehend"
