1. decent kitchen knives that will last a long time with proper care but that aren't super expensive or specialized like the fewest # of different knives I can get away with for 80% of dishes I'm likely to cook. would probably spend 40-150 per knife...

...but could maybe be convinced to go higher if someone knowledgeable was like "no seriously this expensive knife will work for nearly everything you need to do and will last you more than a decade"

2. SHOES, my shoe collection is so sad, nothing but my birkenstocks fit quite right, most women's shoes fall apart and I don't know which brands won't for some styles I'm willing to look at men's shoes but not for everything maybe I just need orthotics or smth? idk

problems: -I have really high arches and large, somewhat wide feet -I actually kind of have no idea what a "good fit" feels like in a shoe -I don't want a huge #, I want 5 or 6 pairs that will work for most stuff -thrifting is tricky bc I don't know how to evaluate this shit

problems I often with my shoes: -too narrow and my toes go numb??? but i don't know what the warning signs are for this issue when I'm trying them on in the store -feeling like they're "unstable" in the arch, ankle, etc -feeling like weird stuff is happening to my knees

-feeling like I have to curl my toes a bit to get them to stay on

depending on the brand, I wear anywhere from 9 1/2 to 11 in women's, and usually size 9 in men's
