microwaved sodium plasmas catching salt particles from eg ocean salt water spray and with energy pumped from microwaves (e.g.) radar could show up both visually and on infrared and could show many of the features of UFOs

What are the odds that the anomaly would vanish from visual contact with fighters and reappear at their predetermined CAP point? Effectively zero. The actual facts involved in the Nimitz incident are orders of magnitude weirder than people seem to grok.

to be quite fair i don’t know enough details of any particular sightings, this is just on the principle of something that could pop up where you’re looking or beaming radar that can move with a scanning or group velocity with visual, infrared and radar signature

Sorry, I thought you were subtweeting that incident based on the confluence of evidence you were describing. If you want to steelman your UFO ideas, I'd encourage you to test them against it. The CAP point issue is particularly boggling.https://www.mdpi.com/2504-3900/33/1/26 …

hm. they argue here that radar beams would have to cross, but i think it could work to pump an already excited state, electrical or including e.g. methanepic.twitter.com/itH2KNtUtw
