Which norm would you personally want for ~50 person parties these days for vaccinated people who are currently experiencing respiratory symptoms (or are likely about to be bc their close contacts are). (Assume some filters running and windows probably open, weather permitting)

I’m not just thinking about covid here—my experience is that normal colds, while harmless, are pretty annoying. (Of course, some colds seem to be transmitted through fomites.) OTOH, masks are also annoying!

Another thing I think about is that “don’t come if sick”, or especially “don’t come if you or your close contacts are sick” might mean that post reopening, some people, like parents of kids in daycare, or preschool teachers, might almost never get to go to parties.

anyone symptomatic or exposed should be extra cautious. imo the best way to handle this is have an outdoor area if people want to be as mindful as possible. ask people who have reason to be concerned to mainly chill there, and if they want to go in to get food/drinks, use a mask
