@yayitsrob with seven reasons to stop worring and love the Ford F-150 Lighting electric pickup. https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2021/05/f-150-lightning-fords-first-electric-truck/618932/ …
I have say, the the price point of $32,500 after federal subsidies ($39,974) for a full-size pickup w/230 mile range and 563 horsepower is mightly compelling.

The F-150 Lightning has same unsubsidized price point as the Tesla Model 3, but it's the best selling full-sized truck in America, and not a sedan! (And the Tesla doesnt qualify for subsidies anymore, although I'm hoping Congress fixes that soon; the per manufacturer cap is dumb)

A whole fleet of price and performance competitive EVs will hit the market in the next two years across the best selling market segments in America: full-size trucks and mid-size SUVs. That's the tipping point moment. (And yes: we should make Americans less car dependent too)

Why the Ford Lightning is a BIG deal for future of electric vehicles: The F-150 is "the country’s best-selling vehicle in every year since Donkey Kong debuted and Ronald Reagan entered the White House. One in every 16 vehicles on American roads is an F-150."

More stunning stats from
@yayitsrob: "Receipts from F-Series trucks exceed Coca-Cola’s annual corporate revenue; that of every major US sports league, combined; or Disney’s global theme-park business. ... 8 percent of the US labor force uses an F-Series truck in their daily job."1 reply 5 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -
p.s. it goes zero to sixty in 4.4. seconds. That's as fast as the Tesla Model Y and faster than a stock Mustang. EVs are mainstream.

i feel like an electric truck can easily be sold on utility (providing power for e.g. tools, silently) for work crews, and you can easily sell it as a valuable tool in excess of the other vehicles you might already have. e.g. if you have this you have a lo of silent power...

and can do jobs silently, you could do all kinds of things from doing jobs at times where you otherwise would bother the neighbors of need prior permission, the volume can be way quieter than a generator -- just the sound of tools.
