Are these kind of transient, “single serving” friendships a feature of millennial and zoomer life or of a particular lifestyle? I personally have a core of lifelong friends and if I’m lucky, add one a year. Otherwise I get whiplash from pleas for unsustained emotional intimacy.

it's hard to maintain friendships over distance and the structure of modern society, from work to our suburban & exurban residences to this permapandemic (!?@#) just make it really hard to *do* things together which is a large part of what makes friendships. can be rekindled tho
