if you had a household unit that produced hydrogen for energy storage (from eg. solar from your roof) in principle you could also concentrate oxygen, maybe for medical use, or maybe even just to oxygenate a room. would that be desirable enough to come in handy next resp pandemic?

Why not do straight desertec? No fancy resources needed, predictable output, storage of heat on site, and we have increasing supply of deserts

all the companies developing that stuff got slaughtered by declining solar pv economics, but storage wasn’t yet valued by the market sufficiently. they have to operate at a scale like hundreds of millions of USD which exposed them to like 4-5 consecutive funding crashes in sector
