the wind isn’t constantly blowing and they run it 24/7 so...

You should know energy can be stored

are they doing this? no, because it is not economic? are they instead running a load 24/7 because the mining hardware is so expensive, valuable and scarce that they are incentivized to run it at all times until the block rewards are less than their marginal cost? yes.

You don't actually know that. You're assuming they don't. Beyond that, who cares? They are clearly integrating renewables and BTC mining is a blip on the world power grid, we waste power on loads of industries and applications far dumber.

they didn't mention it, and it's really hard to make work economically for 24/7, but sure, maybe they have a small battery and a small amount of wind for their otherwise energetically expensive operation. why be upset at high per capita energy usage? we are default screwed!

That was not a small residential wind turbine though. That sucker was at least 1MW

It's not free to build wind turbines. They are incentivized to strive for lower electricity prices and more efficiency. It takes time, I'm sure they would put up more turbines and have free power if they could afford it.

By who? We have the technology to go 100% renewable globally right now, BTC mining wouldn't matter at all. The energy players don't want that, it's not in their best interest, so here we are, still using lots of dirty power. BTC isn't the problem.

It's a problem that we are being lied to!
