Start with the existing financial system and porn first.

but seriously we are on a terrible trajectory. best proxy in this data here is commercial buildings (all commercial buildings) at 6.6%.pic.twitter.com/q8CXXy02ga

Omg have you looked at the military, existing financial system, and porn? Let’s play electricity police and weigh in on the moral subjectivity of all energy consumption starting with an audit of yours!

bitcoin doesn't replace the military
but i've got solar on my roof, the only car i've ever owned was an ev, got a wind farm going and have been a cleantech entrepreneur for years. i have done a lot to reduce my consumption (there's still more to do)3 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

But why do you want to consume less energy? Don’t we want energy surplus for everyone?

uhh, maybe after we can provide stable sustainable electricity for everyone we can talk about ramping it up again, though ultimately we will run into thermodynamic limits at like 30x consumption we're... not close to that though, and we are blowing through our carbon budget

I want to learn more about thermo limits. Care to point me to some resources?

the basics are, even if you just expend energy but don't emit co2 or any greenhouse gas you still dissipate energy. when I ran the calculation I thought I remembered you needed about 30x energy usage (at 50% efficiency) to match the 2.3 W/m^2 anthropogenic radiative forcing...
