Let's assume for a moment that magic is not real and does not work at all. Should be an easy lift for lots of you.
Do we have any other examples of industries like it where thousands of authors write "nonfiction" books on topics they have reason to believe are fake?

magic that does work and is legibly studied ends up as science a lot of the time (though probably not all, science doesn't understand the majority of mass / energy in the universe)

i'm just saying these fields have reason to self doubt that is not exhibited adequately in their books
