overheard on the Nikola ($NKLA) earnings call -- Tre gross margin expected to be -150% initially (yikes). they think they can drop the bill of materials by half in the first couple years, and another 25% in the year thereafter, maybe finally making positive gross margin...
they're answering questions and being super vague. still feel like they're mostly doomed. limited vision through to where they can make a profit much less earn their valuation.

It will depend on how production goes, then customer satisfaction and continued buying and selling. Many variables. Also, they have generally been less than honest in the past, so it's really tough to decifer.

they lost like $140 mm this past quarter and doubled their staff from last year. building new factories ... lost the founder, who was really crazy with the deceit really hard to see how they can build a world beating team in this circumstance they'll have to do a capital raise
