tend to feel the same way, but, here is a preprint from the same author on the subject of recombination published late Jan. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.01.29.428535v1.full.pdf … it could be that work regarding the hyped 'heavily mutated hybrid' is simply not ready

If the analyses are not ready to be shared as a preprint, they should not be circulated as a press release either. At the very least, the putative recombinant genome should have been submitted to GISAID as an assembly, so that others can evaluate the claim.

not directly responsive to your point, but, in the linked preprint they do say their sequences were retrieved by GISAID from the netherlandspic.twitter.com/PNp9AvhEXA

This preprint is not related to their claim of a B 1.1.7 / B 1.429 recombinant. In that preprint they 'reanalysed' the data we curated for the paper below and that we sent them.https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-19818-2?fbclid=IwAR3Z3CQaPReLa-o2A5If4GpRH26olHbBwbDihU47rk4CbtSYI9J-yMEcJcA …
