Power-hungry people generally don't want to empower those on the other side of the negotiating table if they can avoid it. And you generally find power-hungry people in positions of power (and their circles of friends include other powerful people).

I look around and I see people with graduate degrees thinking like slaves. Can't get past an underclass if almost everyone's being trained to be an underclass.

it’s an option i guess but a bad one unless you really open it up to entrepreneurs and students. immigration isn’t the only reason for suppressed wages / salaries, and bigger than that is inflation in university / college, housing policy, and medical costs.
