each have their specialties, and it really depends on the modality. but for everything except cell therapies there are multiple big high quality options to choose from now.

in terms of covid vaccine rollout, i don't think the inefficiencies are in actual production. making billions of doses of GMP drug, even a simple one, within a couple months is pretty remarkable

when i tweeted before about the vaccinations going faster if the IP was in the public domain, i was more focused on the mechanisms by which the doses made rapidly filter out to the world vs central distribution of a centrally produced thing

...half formed thoughts here -- - i think it's important both for how rapidly a more distributed approach could be - i feel like there's some kind of sentiment about peoples being able to express themselves: e.g. we vaccinate with/against these x diseases and that's our solution
