Are there any good books on energy storage in the last 5 years or so? I read everything I could find 7-10 years ago getting started in the space. But those books are all out of date now and I didn’t know what to recommend to a friend just now.

so much of the research was actively in research and then starved of capital. the biggest single advance in terms of what made it commercial was in the exponentially lowering cost and improving lifetime of lithium ion, trumpeted most loudly by Tesla. see https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1149/2.0981913jes …

most of what i read on pumped hydro was on turbine design, not reservoir design or ops
