Wanting to completely kill an institution w/o very careful thought feels naïve, esp when best case fix is to amend. Easy to point out flaws and sometimes it is time for a full on revolution, but I wonder if all of our bias lately to torch centuries of work & roll dice is unwise?

there’s a lot of bias this way but for people who have been through revolution a desire for reform instead is noted, revolution wastes and is incredibly chaotic and messy
@samoburja talks about this, revolution is failure, reform & succession are usually ideal5 replies 1 retweet 5 likes -
Tell that to the Spanish who still have waaaaaaaayyyyyy too many Francists walking around. Last year they finally took his body out of a ghastly like temple / mausoleum and it was problematic. It's a REAL problem. his spirit lives on in the PP. https://www.npr.org/2019/10/24/773022042/spain-moves-dictator-francisco-francos-remains-after-months-of-legal-battles#:~:text=Spain%20Moves%20Dictator%20Francisco%20Franco's%20Remains%2C%20After%20Months%20Of%20Legal%20Battles,-Facebook&text=Pool%2FGetty%20Images-,Francisco%20Franco%2C%20Spain's%20fascist%20dictator%2C%20who%20died%20in%201975%2C,where%20his%20wife%20is%20buried ….

What I'm saying is that non-revolution can leave messy wounds that fester. Reform & succession are great in theory... but if you don't address the former problem properly it will keep on being a problem. (right wing with fascistic tendencies is a problem in judges etc. in Spain)

Replying to @koningwoning @DanielleFong and
Wasn't telling you off or trying to patronize you or any such thing. Just that in essence you may be right - but in practise sometimes a revolution will deal with the problem whereas a reform won't.

not untrue, though, in terms of political usually it is because reforms are insufficient or are resisted. in terms of e.g. the industrial revolution it can't really be resisted for long, people have to adapt.
