it seems to me the long form blogs from the lesswrong/rationalist crowd are slightly ahead (by a couple weeks) of twitter in assessing the actual scale or the calamity posed by the new variants and sluggish vaccine roll out, maybe because twitter was distracted by politics & 1/6

Well, for example in Oregon, now they're talking about leaving it up to school districts whether or not to reopen. Nothing has changed, we've been out of school for a year. Why now?
