I am concerned for fire season 2021 with how dry November, December and January have been so far.https://twitter.com/EricHolthaus/status/1350557692813844486 …

Large parts of the West have received less than half their normal rainfall so far this winter. In parts of Northern California, where this should be the peak of rainy season, wildfire potential is 200% above normal. We are in a climate emergency. pic.twitter.com/HLKWckot9b

We have a Diablo Winds event on Monday-Tuesday — a weather phenomenon that typically happens in October and which causes the mega-fires — except it’s in January. We have somewhat higher vegetation/fuel moisture than the fall, but still extremely odd.https://twitter.com/RobMayeda/status/1350533781803855872 …

PG&E warns it may soon join Edison in shutting off lights to Californians to prevent wildfires. In January. it’s mid January, when CA should be in the throes of mostly wet weather, and PG&E is warning of possible fire-prevention power shut-offs for 21,000 customers in the southern Sierras and Central Coast. I believe this is a first for them. pic.twitter.com/TlE5Dk1iQu

      Replying to @kimmaicutler

in general west coast atmospheric conditions should enable cloud / rain seeding, this is something california should be exploring. my preferred nucleating agent is nano-powdered sea salt, as drives fog from marine layers at 70% relative humidity
