markets are pricing vaccines wrong, way too low, and distribution is even more inefficient.

Markets shouldn't be pricing vaccines at all! This is a public health issue, nobody should be profiting from this

I appreciate your feed to the point that I get notifications when you post, but I genuinely don't understand what you mean here. Are you suggesting that a capitalistic private-enterprise solution is superior to a publicly-owned program?

well, i’m not saying that *in principle*, but i am saying it might be more practical for americans in the short term. in particular it might motivate people to take faster action and work with the system to distribute the vaccine.

the states have shown their inability to respond quickly. in fact the fastest response has been in many cases volunteer efforts, some state and capitalist too, it’s a mix

I can only speak to my own state's experience (Minnesota), but our government's thrall to private ownership is the problem. That's why we keep opening businesses, which is why covid keeps spreading. Frankly, I don't trust any initiative whose primary purpose is to turn a profit

no, but, all government agencies provide their employees salaries to support their lives and motivate their behavior, if you succeed well, you get a promotion, etc, you still need money in the system. this might not empower any business it could be a direct stimulus to people
