Now: 180K cases/day in the US Soon: millions of ppl crowd airports to fly cross-country for holidays, to indoor gatherings of the type that cause superspreader events...and then fly home Dramatic action is needed, else US is on track to become a 3rd world country in 10-20yrs

The last part is purely sensationalist. Even if Corona infected literally everyone in the States it wouldn't make things even nearly that bad

Iff there is lasting immunity, an effective vaccine in time, and universal vaccination. I am more skeptical about all three of these propositions than most. Without them, I think we start to see infrastructure fall apart

Why are you skeptical about lasting immunity? I've only heard edge cases of there not being any, no proof for it being normal

If there's lasting immunity you just get herd immunity, not sure how many people that would be but I'm just not seeing the causeway to "this destroys the U.S." Think about shorting the stock market if you believe this

What’s the latest on lasting immunity,
@DanielleFong ?1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
people are getting reinfected, unclear what the numbers asymptote out to, also mutations may have the ability to evade the immune systems that are previously exposed. i’ve seen a ~7 month immunity suggested based on iirc other coronaviruses

It's worth keeping in mind herd immunity without a vaccine implies viruses gets more chances to mutate.
