I'm blanking on the epidemiology term for "transmission by people touching stuff and then other people touching that same stuff," but I got the impression that there's less evidence for that as a potent vector than aerosolized or small-droplet transmission.

But trick-or-treating might represent a much higher rate of this than any other normal day, which is an argument for caution.
