it's not like the US is doing well. it's in a rapidly accelerating surge. but the other surges *way* outpace what's been happening in the US.

in places like the Czech Republic (Czechia?) cases are rapidly surging and vastly outpacing testing. How has the weather been in Europe? I'm wondering if Europe has been colder than normal in the fall and North America warmer. Europe might just be a couple of weeks ahead. 6+ months into lockdown, the suddenness of the acceleration and steepness of the curve is shocking.

I think a lot of this is that Europe did a good job containing early on but that this left them more vulnerable in the future and they finally slipped up

Like no question New Zealand is doing the right thing but if they do slip up at any point they will suddenly have a huge wave like everybody else because it's virgin territory
