in particular a behavior i suspect happens: a lot of trading in the last couple of seconds of a trading period, to mask high volume periods and make it look like it's trading flat or even up on any graph if you watch, you can really see it

Isn't that explained by trader's psychology. I was busy in the last minutes of trading just today! Never assume malice while sheer incompetence ( and strategy,greed/fear/... ) will suffice.

it really seems like a kind of drawing algorithm wherein it reprices spike of high volume, yes there’s a pick near end of day but this behavior comes on many times a day

so, the pattern is, price drop plus heavy volume, so there’s a large red bar, but then in the final seconds of the minute, it trades green, the graph thus displays high volume and at least a slight price rise. i’ve seen it on Nikola, but also SPY
