I think people just have no imagination, and think they need to do things as close as possible to the way they did things in person. Not that it's a very good way to do things in-person either...

Normie school is not actually about giving insight and knowledge, it’s meant to prepare kids for the cubicle... sorry, I mean it teaches them social skills

_even so_ it's absurdist to think that they would even work at the goal of keeping kids out of their parents hair, instead, parents are forced to perform ops and run a calendar more packed than most executives

You don't even need to bring in the virus for that, it's classic intuitive pedagogy: if it doesn't hurt it can't be effective ("just play, not work") => the more it hurts, the better it works. Same BS as in medicine / therapy, prob. derived from workout where it's partly true.

The purpose of school is to occupy the time of children. Education that can be accomplished at any time, at any pace, does not serve that purpose.
