How do you feel about personal (not cooperate) debt in general? Such as mortgages?

idk, i think from a personal level it might be ok but the collective effect if to significantly increase asset prices and inflate the cost of education, avoid where possible, but, if there is an opportunity to get savings or income while using low interest $ it’s sometimes good

Being overextended is very stressful and can be tricky when circumstances change and banks arent flexible to the situation. I used to view loans as bad things one time. But my latest view is the more loans someone has , the more "new" wealth is being introduced into the economy .

More wealth into economy means more growth , and it seems from what ive read that once a economy is growing there tends to be less violence. If economy flatlines growth / becomes static violence tends to follow. Covid is prob going to flatline economy it could be trouble ahead.

If were universal basic income type scenario would massively help people on the lowest rungs of the ladder in society, avoid high interest debt which would be very cool and transform many lives and transform entire freedom of people in society to choose better lives less violenc

Vonnegut's whole oeuvre is basically a descent into "well fuck me for thinking humans might ever be better" , just an increasingly bitter, cynical man watching his hope dissolve into experience.
