Herd immunity is such a bad strategy. doesn’t happen for flu, doesn’t happen for cold, flu, measles, strains just keep evolving & circulating in waves till we stamp it out with vaccines don’t defeat the virus & we’re probably in for a decade of covid19, covid20, covid21, etc.
it’s clear that immunity alone isn’t enough, and public health interventions + immunity *does* work

you have masks and social distancing and reasonable precautions and contact tracing and you can get things under control enough that some economic activity is still possible. don’t and it just gets worse and worse until nothing but a full lockdown works

Explain how immunity works if people can get proven reinfections every 3-4 months? The reinfections can be severe enough to end up in the hospital.

well it’s not confirmed what the percentages of people who are susceptible to the virus at all either the first time or in subsequent exposures. it could be that the later one is a lower percentage. it’s not 100% in either case so it is a factor.
