Ideally, ridesharing gets decentralized into a crypto protocol so that (a) all drivers get a share of the upside and (b) a single centralized corporate intermediary doesn't even exist. Will happen eventually, may take 10-20 years.

That sounds good but it ducks my direct question! I’m not sure I get why app makers shouldn’t be subject to the 30% cut if drivers are (my view is neither should be, of course)

seems like Uber /Lyft have the right to charge a fee, but that tips should certainly not be charged.
