Kids spending their time on the things you describe will still be broke and non-contributors to society for most part. They should learn skills the market values.

I don't think that's true; it's probably one of the more open periods to be a creator, and WFH studios are going to be important even post pandemic

It's all side projects. Content online is blood from a rock race to bottom I say this having created a ton and working in-house at platforms. Hard life you you don't want it for anyone and forces people to create things for algos ultimately resulting in junk. Do it out of passion

I don't think there's a problem with side projects, though if what you're saying is "don't you wish there's more caution out there for the zillions of people dreaming of being 'content creators'" I suppose yes

The starving artist life is shitty. The middle of this is a myth and unrealistic and listening to lottery winners/survivorship bias is why people buy bullshit guides online. Find passion in what you do that intersects w/what market values & you have true freedom to do anything.pic.twitter.com/cJosGNRT20

I don't think you need to have it be a career to have creative pursuits, and most learning in my fields comes through creative pursuits and side projects. Passion *is* key, but just because something doesn't intersect with what the market values doesn't mean don't pursue it imho

specifically, if someone don't the surplus of time or energy to put into something that might not have market value, i recommend pulling back a bit. creativity and learning come from play. what is valuable isn't obvious ahead of time for so many things, too.
