Why do you think he hangs out with Anne Coulter and various white supremacists? Feels super off brand for someone who's presumably as intelligent as PT... unless he agrees with their goals on some level.

he's had dinner with many with whom he has had substantial disagreements, so i don't know what you can infer he's more of a centrist than people are trying to paint him, afaict generally i am against the current trend of taking a person and rendering them as badly as possible

That's where I get stuck too... Fully endorsing someone as gross as Donald Trump while secretly meeting with white supremacists doesn't feel like "meeting with those you disagree with" as much as it feels like "strategizing with allies". He's not exactly meeting with Chomsky.

he's not supporting trump right now, so i think you may be over estimating how coherent his support really is / how fully he endorsed him interestingly he actually had written that "in a lot of ways Trump is emblematic of what's wrong with new york" i don't really know tho
