thanks. so you're saying feb/march proved how flimsy it all is, weakness exposed. seeing empty shelves (albeit in a small way in feb.) was not comforting, i feel like most people can agree on that.

China expands naturally. The global dominance is a side effect of strong local markets. A new idea in Chinese markets spawns 30 identical companies competing tooth & claw to rise to supremacy. They're competing for the local market, not the rights to globalize one unique idea.

What's focused my pessimism is the realization that the American system is held up, especially relative to China, by ideological/social concerns which are really weak in the competitive & problem-solving spheres. We have good ideas, but no way to connect these to strong growth.
