Don't come on man me. I don't think that dude would have said that if they were listening to James Brown or Nat Cole. I said what I said. I did not like the tone of what he wrote. He should have worded it better. SIMPLE.

hard to read tone on here, which is prolly why comparing liking a music vid to jim crow seems like bad tone to me anyway i don't want to be a tone police say what you say but afaict this is innocent idk

I'm sorry are u a black woman with black children? If not I don't really expect you AT ALL to understand the sensibilities of what offends black people. U should sit this out. All the way out. If well if what u really mean.

i'm allowed to like a tweet of a positive reaction of a video a reaction of kids to music i know without reading your particular racial interpretation into it! as anybody, as musician as a person, i don't buy into the problematisation of this, sorry if it offends you

Why do people like you like to deem what’s offensive to someone? That alone is just even more offensive....

it just is offensive to call innocent things racist, it's a loaded charge in todays environment, and we have to fight to have an open space for discussion online at all. honestly, help me understand what is so wrong with this

Danielle do you really wanna understand or do you want to argue with black people? Why are u calling it innocent? It may have been well intentioned but it wasn’t well received. And last I checked that was enough to say my bad I didn’t mean any harm. Simple to me

do not want to be arguing with black people, come on (again, *that's* offensive) i said i didn't think he meant anything racially by it and he liked that tweet, i specifically don't see anything or racial in these wrong with these words except (I guess?? pure... which is

so yeah i want to help make an inclusive space for discussion in which people aren't triggering each other because either accidentally saying racist things or calling each other racist would rather talk about intergenerational music, which is what i think this is really about

Next time he wants to thumbs up young black people appreciating older tunes, find vids of them appreciating the classics within their own culture... Because those vids are there as well. Trust me, it won't offend anyone either. Dead ass.

since when is it a reasonable position to only listen to music from your own culture! this was just the video that was circulating at the time
