it's like, there's this giant organization, they have the testing, they have the data, they're making the point that not only all there all of these simple methods to avoid the bottleneck but the 8 day delay is going to spread the disease & the CDC just sits on it it's different

Access to resources and power is not a random crap shoot. The new rich, whether from tech or fossil fuels, have to be strategic to ensure conditions that benefit their bottom line, as a desire and as a *requirement* of shareholders. Cliques must form for leverage.

this is maybe one of the areas in which we can be specific -- the tech billionaires do not really form these cliques. there isn't much coordination. thematically the idea that what they have manifests at the level of control just isn't true in the usa as far as i could tell

But it is a LONG game. Not sure what Elon’s strategy is, he may not even have one & doesn’t need to lie and hide. (Hence all the social media drama.) But most leaders have a strategy to extract max from public for benefit of biz, very much dependent on govt leverage. How u win.

again, i don't agree, that's not where the disproportionate wealth was created in the tech community (which is disproportionately where it has been made over the past few decades), maybe at some level of scale yes people move to take best advantage but it's often not the focus
