watching the sf community hate on jason calcanis for wanting to set up a homeschool buble (he’s even offering 100% scholarships to students based on merit) is something else if you don’t like the solution propose yours, “the revolution is coming for you” takes are creepy & lazy

Most of the people were upset with the tone. That it fit so many Bay Area / VC / TechBro tropes just made it too easy. I think we all agree that education needs serious reform. And obviously trying is better than doing nothing....

... but there is also a point to be made here about how many such attempts, even well intentioned, are possibly making the problem worse (e.g., charters) or are mediocre pseudo-shams (e.g., learn2code). So in this light, I think some of the criticism is fair.

something deeply chilling in how the "beat up the tech bro"/"nerd" mockery tilts to the "ban all privateschool and homeschools" and the revolution is coming for you tone frankly that is a worse tone
