the chairman ended by reading a letter stating "what this hearing makes clear is that your companies have monopoly power" well yes they do but you're reading that from a letter, it could have gone either way but those would still be the words you read. anyway, mixed feelings.

code and the companies that run it is increasingly going to shape the landscape of democratic society, and so it is good that there's actually an open debate about these things, but the combination of obvious political bias and misunderstanding gives me a lot of concern...

at the same time the power is so clearly asymmetric in different areas, there are many ways in which the individual members of the committee are for the present time more powerful than those they were grilling, on the other side, that power is unstable and fleeting
