Has anyone become better at biology by systematically predicting what experiments should lead to what results, then checking against literature? Like problem sets in physics. Curious for the largest scale + most rigorous example if so.

a quick googling doesn't find the reference (argh!) but I recall a paper in which an algorithm scanned the medical literature for words that appear with each other (or in the same paper) at a statistically unusual rate
