Hey Portland Protesters— You’re all very, very brave and there’s something you need to do over the next weeks, months, and years. Do cancer screenings and keep secure records.

I’m going to stop short of recommending you document your participation in protests. But you should be able to have some way of knowing definitively what nights you were out there and whether you were exposed to chemical agents.

There’s something new and different being used, and we don’t know what the long term effects are. I’m sorry.

Please look at this tree and how it looks on both sides of the fence. This could be the result of a lot of things and I’m not jumping to conclusions, just encouraging you to take care long term. https://twitter.com/JuniperLSimonis/status/1288321507144249349?s=20 … https://twitter.com/JuniperLSimonis/status/1288321507144249349 …

I’m gonna get a little praxis-guidey on you here now. This is a guide for how to document injuries. First, I am not a lawyer and you should get a lawyer. No seriously, a lawyer is a great way to secure this kind of evidence.

Second, document injuries of all sorts. As close to the event as you can. Bruises, scrapes. Take a picture every few days. Do note that these records can also be used against you, which is why I recommend keeping them securely. Don’t post them on social.

When you go to the doctor, keep a receipt of the co-pay of your visit. Once a year or more often, ask for copies of records. Yes this will cost money.

Document long-term effects of the injury. Use a diary or any long-term, easily recoverable means. For instance, I injured myself at work about 15 years ago. It still bothers me today. I can trace back everything I did around that injury.

The tree damage could be fire, but people OTH saying that’s not supported. In any case, these things are confirmable and true: - the long term effects of tear gas aren’t well-known - people have reported symptoms not associated with CS/CN - people report a chlorine-like odor

We also have seen federal agents recovering spent casings, and there’s been unusual activity in cleaning/rinsing the area

      Replying to @EmilyGorcenski

if someone can get one of the those spent casings probably someone could do gas chromatography-mass spectrometry on the residuals; could be a good clue
