great question; principally, zoning, the right to legally use and manage an electronic currency alike for rights over space (e.g. pollution, pandemic management...), limited support for immigration rights and alternative education (some support in US charter cities for this)...

Autonomy wrt immigration is huge! There are a ton of high potential people out there who could 10x themselves in a better environment. I prefer small countries (the city’s economic contribution will be significant relative to natl. GDP) with a highly coordinated ruling party.

Makes sense. Immigration really is a key area! Unfortunately now it is both ways -- Americans cannot leave their own country except in special circumstances!

as far as i understand the limited autonomy charter cities have is one of the justifications for sanctuary cities in e.g. California. medium term i think we're just going to have to cope with the broken immigration system and make a network of several places.
