How would you run a hands on construction/woodworking course via the Internet?

So much of the point is the access to materials and tools, so students having access to materials and tools at home seems essential Perhaps community workshops you could pipe instructors into via video

The digital nature has similar pros to other online courses: geographic barriers a non-issue, wider audience But may call for asynchronous instruction

yeah I think you need asynchronous instruction and then one on one mentoring. a woodshop is so comparatively dangerous that I want it to be one of the things that’s actually instrumented so people can monitor safety/tacit info to at least some degree for motivated, youtube works

right, safety and how to use tools is the real hard part. a school only for those with a certain threshold of experience is easier of course but misses some of the point community workspaces with materials and instructors would be best of course, outdoor well ventilated :)

I feel like we should probably actually do this but it’s so difficult with all the other constraints during a pandemic!

Yeah I'm enrolling in a course, and helping with the model too, though they have a mostly formed vision of how it will go down

The key is targeting students with access to a workshop

I figure there should just be a workshop in every Covid bubble
