Lack of testing and tracking. Maine, on it's own, is doing testing and is doing well.

RIGHT?! If we'd been on our game, globally, back in December (China being more open, then the rest of us actually listening) and just powered through, like, two weeks of total lock down, we'd be enjoying our margaritas at the beach right now. Wait do people drink those at beach

My back-of-the-envelope in late April was that to get to pre-march levels of COVID-19 we would need 180+ days at mid-April lockdown levels. It wasn't sufficient even in April. We reopened in early May.

but if we did a really hard-core lockdown right now, we would probably only need a time period equal to course of one or two bouts of disease

Masks combined with testing and tracing, and isolation when needed, would do the job, even if more slowly than a lockdown. What is so hard?

Corporate Socialism is what makes it hard...
