with the stock market this manipulated I hope that people realise that the efficient markets hypothesis is dead & we cannot look to the markets as a signal for wisdom. in Feb, people often said "if it's going to be a pandemic why is the market up?" now it's up in spite of it

Lee Smolin argues that humanity's true reflection is in the discrepancy between transparent markets (a total illusion) and arbitrage, which can only exist if the market is non-transparent. i.e.: as long as humans trade in illusions like false markets, we can never thrive.

And the implication is simple: if these markets, illusions we subscribe to, are taken seriously as bases of society, how can we ever take the sciences that these support seriously. All of us are tied to the initial conditions: illusions.

That's the nightmare of Theory of Mind you're describing, that what the protocol net suffuses us with.

Brains and reality don't interact that way, narratives (what you wrote) are not compatible with them.https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0028393214000220 …

don't worry Liz I don't understand half of what we posts about either. but some of it is in the same universe as what you've discussed. unfortunately it's not quite at the level of formulation where a more accessible discussion is possible
