this is a widespread problem with the larger empires and in the anglosphere they don't tend to learn for outside because power has been centered on them so it's inward focused.

Not learning from others is one thing, but having credentialed experts that are seemingly far more concerned with making normative statements on social issues... That might have something to do with decadent empires, but damn.

Oh, there's a huuuge sickness where the culture is dominated by people getting relative social status with these inwardly cultural games (on both sides of the political divide) instead of independent thought. We have fallen faaaar from the period of the independent scientist.

But the vast majority of epidemiologists (AT LEAST FROM WHERE I WAS ON THE INTERNET) were frightened by the damn protests (all of them, remember there were protests before memorial day) Some people being for it was magnified. And scientists sounding the alarm before were muzzled
